Two Trophies, One History
The first trophy, the "Jules Rimet Cup," was awarded from 1930 to 1970. When Brazil won it for the third time, they kept it permanently. In 1974, the current "FIFA World Cup Trophy" was introduced.
The 1966 Theft
Four months before England's World Cup, the Jules Rimet Cup was stolen from an exhibition in London. Seven days later, a dog named Pickles found it wrapped in newspaper under a bush.
Pickles became a national hero and was invited to the celebration dinner when England won the World Cup.
